The Hair Colour Trends to Try in 2021

Published on 11th March 2021

Fancy a change for 2021? We've got you. Things have felt so mundane and same-y for almost a year now, so we're not surprised if you've been feeling like you want to shake things up. Today, we're chatting through the top 5 hair trends to try in 2021.

Red/Auburn

The most anticipated hair trend for 2021 is any and all shades of red. From light strawberry blondes to deep berry hues, warm tones are where it’s at this year. The amazing thing about red hair is that the shade can be tailored to suit your skin tone, especially when paired with a fitting eye colour and the right make-up too. Tempted to dive into the redhead deep end? Now’s the time!

Face-Framing Highlights

If you’ve not seen anyone embracing this trend, are you living under a rock? It’s all over TikTok and Instagram, say no more really. Fun fact: they’re also known as ‘money-piece’ or ‘e-girl streaks’! The standard way we’ve seen these is dark hair overall with blonde front pieces, but you can add even more dimension with multiple tones. Get creative with it, ‘cause this trend is hanging around long-term!

Pearl Blonde

For our light-haired ladies, listen up! If you’re tempted by a multi-dimensional blonde that strikes the perfect balance between warm and cool, we’ve got you. To create the effect, use both pearl and silver toners the next time you’re refreshing your hair. The end result? The best of both worlds, are we right?

Pastels

For our blonde bombshells out there, this one’s for you! 2021 is the year of shaking things up, and hair colours are no exception to the rule. Think lavenders, lilacs, peaches - this year’s trending pastel hue is amethyst, almost like a blue-toned candy floss colour. If you’re not about to commit to colourful hair, a wash-in, wash-out alternative is perfectly acceptable too. Just remember to ‘gram it or it didn’t happen!

Barely-There Highlights

With this one, you’re 100% likely to be asked “Did you get your hair done?” and you could almost get away with saying no. Almost. Super subtle and easy to maintain, this one’s perfect for those who put off their salon visits for as long as possible, or in this case, a whole pandemic. Either way, if easygoing is your vibe, here’s one to try in 2021.

Until next time,
