Favorite Summer ’22 Trends with The Clover Fox Blog

Published on 17th June 2022

I had the pleasure of checking out the latest summer arrivals at the Marshes Shopping Centre, and their Fashion Fest Corner kitted out with a selfie wall and catwalk. With over 40 stores including Penneys, H&M, DV8, New Look and River Island, you are guaranteed to pick up amazing items for your summer wardrobe that will have everyone admiring your style. Here are my favourite summer trends for 2022, both current and timeless.

Colourblocking

Anyone who knows me knows I love a quirky, colourful outfit and have all the colours of the rainbow hanging in my closet. Dive into this sunny season with a splash of colour to brighten up your summer wardrobe. Bold, brave and bright colours make a statement and are the perfect way to project your personality into your style. I personally love colourblocking as you would be surprised at what colours suit each other and compliment your complexion.  Experiment with your wardrobe by mixing and matching colours together and don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone.

Dainty Summer Dresses

There’s nothing I love more than a cute summer dress to add a touch of femininity to my style, whether it is floral print, flowy, bohemian or lace. To keep my look cool, casual and comfortable I like to wear a crisp, white sneaker to feel fresh and complete my outfit. A denim jacket has always been a staple piece in my wardrobe as it makes a great light layer for cool evenings and is a timeless classic. Alternatively, you could add a leather jacket to give your look that edgy, rock chic vibe that contrasts with the dainty dress yet compliments it. Summer dresses are the most versatile piece of clothing of the sunny season. They can be dressed down and worn to the beach over a bikini or dressed up for a special occasion such as a summer wedding.

Matchy Matchy - Two Piece Outfits & Matching Sets

Co-ord sets are my go-to in the summertime is they can either be worn together or separately, therefore making them a great addition to your wardrobe this season. A head-to-toe matching outfit has the ability create a well-put together look that requires minimal effort. On the other hand, co-ord sets are extremely versatile as they can be mixed or matched depending on the occasion or the look you want to achieve. They are a must-have in summer 2022, especially for packing in your holiday suitcase to keep your luggage as light as possible.

Perfect and Preppy but not Prim

From a person who is always cold regardless of the weather, I always like to have a light knit handy for those cool, summer evenings when it gets a little chilly. They are definitely a good investment for your transitional, staple wardrobe as they can be worn all year round in any season. They make a great layer during Autumn and Winter whilst still being light and breathable during the warmer seasons. I have a soft spot for sweater vests, especially teamed up with a mini, pleated, tennis skirt to give it that classic, preppy look with a sporty, streetstyle vibe. A classic, minimal look that that is functional, practical while also being chic.

'90s Baby - Y2K

As a millennial, I am all for the 90’s fashion trend making a comeback in 2022. The pop culture Queens of our generation such as Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Paris Hilton influenced our taste by making loud fashion statements that we all adored.  I love how designers are picking inspiration from past eras to recreate this iconic style and influence future trends, especially the Y2K moment in time.  It’s refreshing to feel the reminisce and nostalgia of that iconic era, it's like taking a step back into the past. As we have seen on social media such as TikTok and TV shows such as Euphoria, the Y2K has been bought back by Gen-Z and we’re not complaining.

Love,
